International Space Station Passes Over Wichita Falls
Listen for the ISS side of astronaut-to-school and other contacts on 145.800 MHz. Listen for regular "ham to ham" contacts on the ISS repeater downlink on 437.800 MHz. If the ISS is close enough, you can listen on your scanner radio with an inside antenna. However, a good outside antenna is recommended for best results. I heard Astronaut Owen Gariott (W5LFL) make the first Amateur (ham) Radio contacts from space (Space Shuttle mission STS-9) in 1983, using just the telescopic antenna on my Bearcat 220 scanner! You don't have to be interested in Amateur (ham) Radio communications from the Space Station. You can just step outside and watch the nighttime passes. You'll know it when you see it.
